About the Event
Come and learn some tried and true comfort measures for labor and birth, as well as new techniques that couples can use and continue into life as a family.
We have all seen depictions of people in labor with the birth partner or doulas squeezing hips, rubbing the low back, and everyone showing a lot of physical exertion! Birth can be hard work! But, we can also use different types of touch that relax the central nervous system and also support the baby's birth journey by creating space in the pelvis. We can explore supported movement as a comfort measure for birth, but also as a preparation for birth and recovery post-birth. We can approach intentional touch as something that we incorporate into daily life as a family.
In this class we will learn:
- Upright movement techniques to start before birth, which helps prepare for upright birth, to use during labor.
- Simple and easy muscle releases used in massage therapy that create space for the birth of the baby, but can also be used by partners in day to day family life, forever.
- A primer on infant touch, it's importance, and how to begin a life of intentional touch with your new human.
